Write

Every draft kept. Every change visible.

Save named drafts as the script grows, compare any two of them, then lock a shooting draft and track revisions the way a production expects.

Compare two drafts

Pick two drafts and step through the changes, either scene by scene or as plain text. Nothing is merged unless you do it yourself.

  • New drafts start from the current one or an older one
  • Rename and delete drafts you no longer need

Lock for the shoot, then revise

Lock Shooting Draft freezes the production scene numbers. Start a revision with a label, a colour and a reason, and the changed lines are marked on the page.

  • Revision marks show in Page View and in the exported PDF
  • Scene numbers stay put once the draft is locked

Each one with what it does, what it is for, and where it is available.

Save a new draft

Keep a version before a rewrite.

What it does
Create a named draft from the current one or from an earlier named draft, with an optional note. The source draft stays exactly as it is.
What it is for
To rewrite freely knowing the old version is safe.
WindowsMac

Compare scene by scene

See which scenes changed.

What it does
Pick two drafts and see scenes added, removed, changed, moved and unchanged, with a summary.
What it is for
To understand the shape of a rewrite quickly.

Lock the shooting draft

Freeze the script you will shoot.

What it does
Locking asks for a clear confirmation that lists the draft, its version, unresolved notes and the number of scenes. Production scene numbers are fixed from then on.
What it is for
To give the whole crew one script that does not shift under them.

A locked draft protects itself

Typing in a locked draft offers a revision.

What it does
You can read and export a locked draft freely. If you start typing, the app offers to start a revision instead of changing the locked pages.
What it is for
To stop accidental edits to the script the crew is using.

Good to know

  • Review rounds inside the app were removed. To get notes, share the screenplay as a review package file.
  • There is no live shared editing; one person writes to a project at a time.

Windows and Mac

  • The Mac names its compare modes Scene-only and Text-only.

The locked shooting draft is what the Breakdown, schedule and sides are built from. When a revision changes a scene, the Breakdown marks it for review.
