Screenplay

Comment on words in the script

Leave a comment tied to the words you selected, so the thread stays beside the script.

Beginner6 stepsMac

Before you start

  • A screenplay with text is open.

Steps

  1. Select the words you want to comment on.

The words stay highlighted while you work.

  2. Choose Screenplay Tools, then Add Comment, or press Option-Command-M.

The inspector opens on the Comments tab. A box labelled for the scene shows what the comment will attach to. Open (0) and Resolved (0) switch lists. With nothing yet it says No comments yet.

  3. Type in the Comment box and click Comment.

The composer shows the scene, for example Scene 1 · text comment, and quotes your selection. Cancel closes it.

  4. Read the posted comment.

The bar now reads Comments (1). The card shows your name, Scene 1 · text comment in the script, the quoted words, your text, when you wrote it, and Reply, Resolve and an Actions menu. Show moves the page to the commented words.

  5. Open Comments in the bar at any time to reach the list.

Comments in the bar opens the Comments tab of the inspector. The list is empty until a comment is added.

  6. In a new project the list shows two buttons.

Open (0) and Resolved (0), Add Comment and Comment on Draft, and the line No comments yet.

What you get

The comment is posted beside the script and counted in Comments.

Watch out for

  • With nothing selected, Add Comment writes a scene comment instead. Select the words first if you want a comment on the text.
