Add, reply to and resolve comments

Comment on a scene or on the whole draft, answer a comment, mark it, resolve it and bring it back.

Intermediate8 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • The Comments panel is open. Click Comments in the toolbar.

Steps

  1. Click Comments in the toolbar and read the Open list.

Open (2) is selected and lists unresolved comments. Each has Reply and Resolve. Click Comments again to close the panel.

  2. Click Comment on Scene 1, type your comment, and click Comment.

The box is headed Scene 1 · scene comment. You can also right-click a scene in the list and choose Add Comment. Cancel closes the box.

  3. Click Comment on draft for a comment about the whole draft, not one scene.

The box is headed Draft comment. The example reads Overall the opening is stronger. Check the rooftop beat for length.

  4. Click Reply on a comment, type your answer, and click Reply.

Replies sit under the comment. Cancel closes the reply box. A reply has its own Delete reply button.

  5. Click the menu button on a comment to open Comment actions.

Edit is offered on your own comments. Mark In Discussion changes the state of an open comment, and a comment already in discussion offers Mark Open. Delete removes it.

  6. Click Resolve on a comment you have dealt with, then click Resolved (1) to see it.

Resolved comments are marked Resolved and show who resolved them and when. Reply and Reopen are offered. Click Reopen to move the comment back to Open.

  7. Switch to a draft that has no comments.

Open (0) and Resolved (0) show 0, and the panel says No comments yet. Comment on Scene 1 and Comment on draft are still there.

  8. Click Resolved (0) on that draft.

The panel says No resolved comments.

What you get

Review notes are answered, resolved and counted.

Watch out for

  • Open comments are listed when you lock a draft, so resolve them first if you can.
