ScreenplayWrite scene notes and private notes
Keep a note on a scene that only you can see, and a shared scene note.
Before you start
- A screenplay is open.
Steps
Click Notes in the toolbar.
The panel is headed with the scene, for example Scene notes: Scene 1. It has a Private note marked Only you, a Scene note with an Add button, and IN-SCRIPT NOTES. A line at the bottom says notes are not printed and are excluded from PDF, FDX, Fountain and DOCX exports and review packages by default.
Click Add private note, type your note, and click Save.
The box is labelled Private note, Only you. Cancel closes it without saving.
Click the menu button on the saved private note.
Private note actions has Edit and Delete.
Click Add next to Scene note, type the note, and click Save.
The box is labelled Scene note. The picture shows a note about light for a night exterior.
Click Add note to add a note into the script itself. Use the box Show notes in the script to hide or show notes on the page.
IN-SCRIPT NOTES lists the notes that sit in the script, for example Section: ACT ONE. View and more also offers Hide notes in the script. These notes are not printed.
What you get
Your private note and scene note are saved with the scene.
Watch out for
- Only you see a private note. It is left out of every export and review package.
