ScreenplayWrite with reference panels in Writing Room Mode
Open the Beat Board and your notes beside the page while you write, and close them again.
Before you start
- A screenplay is open in Standard Mode.
Steps
Click View and more and choose Writing Room Mode.
Standard Mode is ticked until you switch. In Writing Room Mode, panels open as tabs beside the page.
Look at the tabs at the top right: Beat Board, Scene Notes, Characters, Comments and Draft information.
The Beat Board tab opens first. It is headed Beat Board (reference only) and says No Beat Board card is linked to Scene 1 when the scene has no card. It says viewing a card here never edits the screenplay or locks anything.
Click Show all Beat Board cards (6).
Every card is listed with its heading and one line. The button now reads Hide all Beat Board cards (6).
Click a second tab, for example Scene Notes.
Writing Room Mode shows up to two panels at once, one above the other. Standard Mode shows one. Click the x on a panel to close it.
Close both panels.
The tab row stays, with the text Choose a panel above. With no panel open, the page stays centred.
What you get
You can write with your reference material beside the page, and switch back to Standard Mode from the View menu.
Watch out for
- Looking at a Beat Board card here never changes it.
