Screenplay

Check who speaks and fix a character match

See how many speeches each character has, which scenes they speak in, and link a name to the right story character.

Intermediate2 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • A screenplay with dialogue is open.

Steps

  1. Click View and more and choose Characters.

The Characters panel lists every name that speaks, with the number of speeches, for example FAROOQ, 14 speeches. A chip says Story character: FAROOQ when the name matches your story, or Not in the character list when it does not. A row of Sc buttons names the scenes where the character speaks. Click one to jump to that scene.

  2. Click Correct match for the name you want to fix.

The menu lists your story characters, for example LAKSHMI, VENKAT RAO, FAROOQ and PADMA, and Not a character. Choose a character to link the name, or Not a character to tell OpenFrame the name is not a character. After a manual match the menu also offers Reset match.

What you get

Names in the script are matched to the right story characters.

Watch out for

  • A name that is only a little different from a story character may be shown as a suggestion rather than a match. Use the menu to settle it.
