Use suggestions for character names

Fill in a character name from the names already in the script, or create a new one.

Beginner3 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • The cursor is on a Character line.

Steps

  1. On a Character line, type the first letters of a name, for example LA.

A Suggestions list opens under the line. It offers names already in the script, for example LAKSHMI, marked Script. Below the names, Create New: LA is marked Beat Board. A line under the list says Enter accepts, Esc keeps your text.

  2. Press Enter to accept the highlighted name, or Esc to keep what you typed.

Accepting a suggestion keeps the spelling of the name the same everywhere. Enter then moves you on to the Dialogue line.

  3. If no name matches, the list offers only Create New with the letters you typed, for example Create New: LAZQ.

Choose it to add a new character to the story. Press Esc to keep the text without adding anything.

What you get

Character names are consistent across the script.

Watch out for

  • A name spelled a little differently counts as a different character in the Characters panel. Use the list to keep names the same.
