ScreenplayMove around with the scene list
Jump to a scene, add one, reorder scenes and show or hide the list.
Before you start
- A screenplay with scenes is open.
Steps
Click a scene in the list on the left.
The page jumps to that scene and the row is highlighted. SCENES shows how many scenes the script has. Alt+Down goes to the next scene and Alt+Up to the previous one.
Click the plus button at the top of the list to add a scene.
Its tooltip says New scene after the current one.
Drag the handle at the left of a row to move that scene. The handle's tooltip says Drag to reorder.
The scene numbers follow the new order. If the scene is already used in production planning, a warning asks you to confirm first. See Move a scene that is in production planning.
Click Scenes in the toolbar to hide the list.
Its tooltip says Hide the scene list. The page widens to fill the space. Click Scenes again to bring the list back. The plus button and the columns button belong to the list, so they are not shown while it is hidden.
What you get
You can reach any scene in a click and keep the list out of the way when you want room to write.
Watch out for
- A scene list row shows Untitled scene when the heading line is empty.
