Screenplay

Use the scene menu and the Scene Hub

Send a scene to other parts of OpenFrame, copy or export it, and see everything linked to it.

Intermediate3 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • A screenplay with scenes is open.

Steps

  1. Right-click a scene in the list.

The menu groups its choices. Open in Beat Board, Break down, Create Shot List, Create Storyboard and Open in Schedule open the matching page focused on this scene. Scene Hub, Add Comment, Copy Scene and Export Scene come next. Scene number…, Move up, Move down and Delete scene are at the bottom, and Delete scene is red. Move up is greyed out for the first scene.

  2. Choose Scene Hub.

The Scene Hub drawer opens on the right, headed with the scene. It asks What exists around this scene? and lists Screenplay (the draft), Breakdown (2 confirmed · 8 suggested), Shots (3), Schedule (1), Comments (1) and Beat Board (No linked card). A note says the hub is navigation and context, not a master edit screen, and that each link opens the dedicated page focused on this scene. Click the x to close it.

  3. Choose Copy Scene to put the scene text on the clipboard, or Export Scene to open the Export Screenplay dialog.

A message confirms the copy. Delete scene moves the scene to Recently Deleted and offers Undo. It is greyed out when the script has only one scene. In a revision of a locked draft the scene is marked OMITTED instead of removed.

What you get

You can go from a scene to its breakdown, shots, schedule and comments without searching for it.

Watch out for

  • Scene Hub is also in the View menu, under SCENES, and is used with the scene your cursor is in.
