Screenplay

Give a scene a number such as 12A

Set your own scene number, or go back to the automatic number.

Intermediate3 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • A screenplay is open and you can edit the draft.

Steps

  1. Right-click the scene in the list and choose Scene number….

The choice sits below the divider with Move up, Move down and Delete scene.

  2. In the Scene number dialog, type the number in Number, for example 12A. Click Save.

A note says a number is only a label: breakdown, shots and the schedule stay linked to the scene. Use letters and digits, for example 12 or 12A. Leave the box empty to return to the automatic number. Cancel closes the dialog.

  3. If the scene is already planned, read the warning and click Change the number.

The dialog says the scene is already used in production planning (Breakdown, 3 shots and the shooting schedule), that its new number will show everywhere, and that the production items stay linked to the scene. The button changes from Save to Change the number.

What you get

The scene shows its new number in the list and in both margins of the page.

Watch out for

  • Changing a number never breaks the link to breakdown, shots or schedule. Production data follows the scene, not its number.
