ScreenplaySave a new draft
Start a new named draft from the current draft or from an earlier one.
Before you start
- A screenplay is open.
Steps
Click Drafts in the toolbar, then click New Draft.
You can also open the draft menu and choose New Draft….
In the New Draft dialog, leave Create from on Current draft (Second Draft), and type a Draft name *.
The name starts as Draft 3 and the optional Note is empty. A line says the source draft stays exactly as it is and the new draft becomes a separate version.
To start from an earlier version, choose Previous named draft… and pick one under Source draft.
A Source draft list appears with your named drafts, for example Example-Feature (imported).
If the name is already used, read the message and type another name.
The dialog says Another draft already has this name. Choose a different name.
Click Create Draft.
Cancel closes the dialog without making a draft. The new draft opens and you can write in it.
What you get
A new draft exists alongside the old one, and the old one is unchanged.
Watch out for
- Make a new draft before a big rewrite. You can compare it with the old draft afterwards.
