Restore an earlier version from recovery history

Bring back an automatic earlier state of a draft as a new draft.

Intermediate3 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • The Drafts drawer is open.

Steps

  1. Scroll to RECOVERY HISTORY in the Drafts drawer.

It lists automatic saved states of the draft, for example Today 12:28 am: draft created, with the number of scenes, and a Restore button.

  2. Click Restore on the state you want.

A note says automatic history is for recovery and is not a deliverable draft. Restoring creates a new draft and nothing is replaced. The restored draft opens and a message tells you its name.

  3. To copy a whole draft instead, choose Restore as new draft in a draft's actions menu.

This makes a new draft from that draft's text and leaves the original as it is.

What you get

An earlier version is back as its own draft, and your current draft is untouched.

Watch out for

  • Restoring never overwrites a draft. If you restored the wrong state, delete the new draft from the Drafts drawer.
