Idea Vault

Save a quote with its source

Keep a line you want to remember, with where it came from.

Beginner3 stepsMac

Before you start

  • The Idea Vault is open.

Steps

  1. Click Add, then choose Quote.

A new quote is created at once and opens in the inspector.

  2. Look at the inspector. The heading says Quote and shows Untitled quote.

It has the same top buttons as a note: Pin, Move and Copy to Global Vault. Title (optional) and Note text are the fields, and Source (optional) is for where the line came from. Saved automatically applies here too.

  3. Type the quote in Note text, for example The last bus waits for no one., and add a Source if you know it.

In the picture the quote card shows the words in italics between quotation marks, with Quote and today under it. A notice at the bottom shows what you last did, for example the link you added, with Undo and Dismiss.

What you get

A quote card is in the vault.

Watch out for

  • The Source box is optional. Fill it in if you may need to credit the line later.
