Idea VaultSend an idea to the Beat Board
Turn an idea into a beat, scene card, sequence or character note on the Beat Board.
Before you start
- A project is open and the vault has an item.
Steps
Open an item and click Send to Story at the bottom right of the drawer. You can also right-click the item and choose Send to Story.
Send to Story is only offered inside a project, and for one item at a time.
Read the Send to Beat Board dialog and choose Scene Card.
It says: What should this become? This creates a copy. The original stays in your Idea Vault. A box shows the idea. The choices are Beat (a small story event), Scene Card (a compact scene reminder), Sequence idea (a group of scenes) and Character note. Place it in lists Parking Lot, each act, and each sequence in an act. A hint says Or leave it in the Parking Lot.
Choose Sequence idea.
A sequence goes into an act, so Parking Lot is not offered. The hint changes to A sequence idea goes into an act.
If the Beat Board has no acts, read the message.
It says There are no acts yet. Add an act on the Beat Board first, or choose Beat or Scene Card. Create Copy in Beat Board stays greyed out for a sequence idea until an act exists.
Choose Character note.
A character note has no place to choose, so Place it in disappears.
Click Create Copy in Beat Board.
A message offers Open Beat Board. The idea stays in the vault. Cancel closes the dialog and creates nothing.
What you get
A copy of the idea is on the Beat Board where you placed it.
Watch out for
- The item in the vault is never moved or changed.
