Idea Vault

Add a note or a quote

Create a written item with a title and text, or a quote with its source.

Beginner4 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • The Idea Vault is open.

Steps

  1. Click Add in the toolbar.

The menu lists Note, Image, URL, File, Audio / Voice Note, Audio file…, Video, Quote, Sketch and, below a divider, Quick Capture with its shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N. Click Note to write freely. The other entries are covered in their own workflows.

  2. The item opens in the drawer as an Untitled note. Click in the Note box and write.

Title (optional) can stay empty. The note box says Write anything…. Below the box, Saved automatically confirms your text is kept as you type, and Added and Modified show the dates. If a save fails the line reads Not saved yet. with a Retry button.

  3. To keep a line you heard or read, click Add and choose Quote.

A quote is a separate type of item with its own fields.

  4. Type the words in the Quote box, then fill in Source (optional) if you know who said it or where you found it.

The Quote box says The words, exactly as you heard or read them. Source (optional) says Who said it, where you found it. Here the picture shows a quote with the source Overheard at the Rayapuram stand. A quote is shown in italics on a purple card.

What you get

The note or quote is in the vault and saved.

Watch out for

  • Closing the drawer saves what you typed first. You do not need a Save button.
  • A new note with no text and no title stays in the vault as Untitled note. Delete it if you did not want it.
