Idea VaultCatch an idea fast with Quick Capture
Save a thought as a note in a few seconds without leaving the page you are on.
Before you start
- A project is open, or you are on Application Home for the Global vault.
Steps
Press Ctrl+Shift+N, or click Quick Capture at the top right of the Idea Vault.
The Quick Capture dialog opens with a single box labelled Idea. A line under the title tells you where it will save, for example Saving to your project name · Project Idea Vault. In the Global vault it says Saving to your Global Idea Vault. The keys are shown at the bottom: Enter or Ctrl+Enter to save, Shift+Enter for a new line, Esc to cancel.
Type your idea and click Save, or press Enter.
Save stays greyed out until the box has text. Cancel closes the dialog without saving. If saving fails, your text stays in the box so you can try again.
Read the message at the bottom: Saved to the Project Idea Vault.
The idea is saved as a note. Click Undo in the message to take it back, or Dismiss to close the message.
What you get
A new note holding your idea is in the vault.
Watch out for
- Check the line under the dialog title. Quick Capture saves to the vault you are looking at, so a note can land in the Global vault if that is the one shown.
- Quick Capture is for catching the idea. Give it a title, tags or a collection later.
