Idea VaultRename or delete a collection or a folder
Tidy the side panel without losing any item.
Before you start
- A collection or a folder exists.
Steps
Right-click a collection in the side panel.
The menu has Rename… and Delete Collection in red.
Click Rename…, change the name and click Rename.
The dialog shows the current name in Name *. An empty name shows Name is required.
Right-click a folder in the side panel.
The menu has Open, Rename…, New Folder Inside… and Delete Folder in red. New Folder Inside… makes a folder within this one.
In Folder view, right-click a folder card.
The same four choices are offered: Open, Rename…, New Folder Inside… and Delete Folder.
Click Rename…, change the name and click Rename.
The dialog shows the current name in Folder name *.
Click Delete Folder, or Delete Collection, and read the message.
For a folder the message reads Deleted folder “name”. Its items were kept and moved up a level. For a collection it says Deleted collection “name”. Its items were kept. Click Undo in the message to bring it back. The folder or collection itself is also listed in Recently Deleted.
What you get
The side panel is tidy and every item is still in the vault.
Watch out for
- Deleting a folder or a collection never deletes the items inside it.
