Record a voice note

Record yourself and keep the recording exactly as you spoke it.

Beginner3 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • A microphone is connected and Windows allows OpenFrame to use it.

Steps

  1. Click Record Note in the toolbar, or click Add and then Audio / Voice Note.

The Record Note dialog opens and starts the microphone. A timer shows the length and the line beside it reads Starting microphone… and then Recording…. Name (optional) says Leave blank to keep it untitled. A note says The recording is always kept exactly as recorded.

  2. Speak, then click Stop & Save.

The recording stops and is saved as a voice note. If you want to check it first, the button changes to Save once recording has stopped. Cancel closes the dialog without saving.

  3. Open the voice note item.

The drawer has a player, the file name with its size and length, and Open externally. The field is called Name (optional) here, with Caption and Source link under it. The picture shows a note called Radio hiss at the harbour.

What you get

The voice note is in the vault and plays from its drawer.

Watch out for

  • If the microphone cannot be used, the dialog says OpenFrame couldn't use the microphone and tells you to check that one is connected and that Windows allows apps to use it (Settings, Privacy and security, Microphone). Click Choose an audio file… to add a recording you already have.
  • If you stop before anything was recorded the dialog says Nothing was recorded.
