Idea VaultReconnect a file OpenFrame cannot find
Point an item at its file again after the file was moved or the drive was unplugged.
Before you start
- An item is marked Unavailable in the vault.
Steps
Look for a card with a red Unavailable badge. Here it is Harbour notes.txt, shown as (file unavailable).
The badge means OpenFrame cannot reach the original file. The item and your notes are still there.
Open the item and read the red message.
It says File unavailable. The original file could not be found, shows where OpenFrame looked, and adds: OpenFrame keeps this item and its notes. Nothing has been deleted. For a file that lives outside the project there are two buttons: Relink… and Open Location.
Click Relink… and choose the file in the Windows file window titled Relink file.
A message says File relinked. The item and its notes are unchanged. Open Location shows the folder where the file used to be. If that folder is not there either, a message says That folder isn't available either. Reconnect the drive or relink the file.
What you get
The item opens its file again and nothing was lost.
Watch out for
- If the drive is only unplugged, reconnect it and the item works again without relinking.
