Project window and navigationSearch everything in a project
Find a scene, idea, character, location, shot, cast member or file by a word, and open it.
Before you start
- A project is open.
Steps
Click the search box at the top, or press Ctrl+K.
A Search box opens over the page. Its prompt reads Search scenes, ideas, characters, locations, files…. Below it two buttons set the scope: This project and + Global Idea Vault. Esc closes the box.
Type a word, for example Lakshmi.
A count appears, for example 35 results. Each result has a label for its type, such as SCENE, CHARACTER, SHOT, CATALOG or STORYBOARD_PANEL, a bold title, a line of text with your word highlighted, and on the right where it lives, for example Production · Shot List or Screenplay with the script and draft name.
Press the Down arrow to move to the next result, or the Up arrow to move back.
The highlighted row is the active one. Moving the mouse over a row also highlights it. Press Enter, or click, to open the highlighted result.
Try a place name, for example Rayapuram.
The results mix sections, such as a location, a sequence, a storyboard, scenes, shots and a shooting day. Scroll the list to see them all.
If nothing matches, the box shows 0 results.
It says: No matches. Search looks at titles, text, notes, file names and tags. Check the spelling or try another word.
To include ideas from outside the project, click + Global Idea Vault.
That button turns dark when it is on. This project is then off. The search covers your Global Idea Vault.
Type a word, for example ferry.
Results from the Global Idea Vault are labelled IDEA VAULT and say Global Idea Vault on the right. Here there is 1 result, an idea saved outside any project.
What you get
You open the scene, idea, character or file you were looking for.
Watch out for
- This project does not include the Global Idea Vault unless you click + Global Idea Vault.
- Press Esc to close search without opening anything.
