Intermediate5 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • A screenplay is open and you can edit it.

Steps

  1. Click View and more and choose Page setup… under ADVANCED.

Page setup is saved with this screenplay. The page view, print preview and PDF all use it.

  2. Under Preset, click Standard screenplay (US Letter) or Standard screenplay (A4).

A preset applies its settings in the dialog. Save keeps them. The other fields are Paper (US Letter or A4), Font (Courier), Size (10 pt to 14 pt, with 12 pt standard), Line spacing (Single (standard), 1.5 lines or Double) and First page number.

  3. Click in Header or Footer and type text. Click a chip such as {title} or {page} to insert it.

The chips are {title}, {draft}, {revision}, {date} and {page}. Placeholders fill in on every page. The picture shows the header {title} {draft} and the footer {page}.

  4. Tick or clear the options below the footer.

Print the page number on the first page, Show the header and footer on the first page, Include the title page when exporting and printing, Print scene numbers and Mark revised lines with an asterisk. A line at the bottom tells you how many lines fit on a page with the saved settings, for example 55.

  5. To keep these settings for later, type a name in the box at the bottom, Save these settings as a preset, and click Save preset. Then click Save.

Save preset stays pale until you type a name. Cancel closes the dialog without any change.

What you get

The screenplay uses the new paper, font and header and footer on screen, in Print Preview and in the PDF.

Watch out for

  • Changing the font size or line spacing changes where pages break and how many pages the script has.
