Production Plan: overview and catalogAdd a catalog item
Create a reusable item, such as a prop or a vehicle, by hand.
Before you start
- A project is open and your role can edit it.
Steps
On the Catalog tab, click Add Item at the top right. On an empty Catalog you can also click the Add Item button under the message.
Adding by hand is for items you want before they appear in a breakdown. Items you confirm in the Breakdown are added by themselves.
In the Add Item dialog, choose a Category *, type a Name *, and set a Status.
The dialog says: A reusable production item. Scenes that need it are linked from the Breakdown. Category * starts on the category you were filtering by, or Props. Status starts on Required. Description (optional) holds a short note. Add Item stays greyed out until the name is filled in. Cancel closes the dialog without adding.
If a yellow note appears under Name *, read it before you continue.
It says: The catalog already has “Marine radio receiver”. Adding creates a separate item; to reuse it, link it from the Breakdown instead. It is a warning, not a block. Change the name, or cancel and reuse the item that exists.
Click Add Item.
The dialog closes, a message at the bottom says Added the item to the catalog with an Undo link, and the new item opens in its drawer.
What you get
The item is in the Catalog with the status you chose. It shows Not used yet until the Breakdown links it to a scene.
Watch out for
- Two items with the same name are allowed but usually a mistake. Heed the yellow note and reuse the existing item from the Breakdown.
- Adding an item does not put it in a scene. Scenes are linked from the Breakdown.
