Download OpenFrame AI, or import model files

Get OpenFrame AI ready on your computer with a one-time download, or from model files you already have.

Before you start

  • A project is open.
  • About 1.2 GB of free disk space, and an internet connection for the download only.

Steps

  1. Open OpenFrame AI panel, or open Project settings and the Offline AI tab.

    Until OpenFrame AI is downloaded, the panel and the Offline AI tab show a card titled Download OpenFrame AI in place of the conversation. This card is only there until the download is done, so it is not in the pictures here, which show a computer where OpenFrame AI is already ready.

  2. Read the card, then click Download OpenFrame AI.

    The card says A one-time download of 1.2 GB and how much free space it needs, with how much is free on the drive. A note says the download uses the internet once. After it, OpenFrame AI works on this computer without the internet, and your projects are never sent anywhere. Nothing touches the internet until you click. If the drive is too full, a warning says There is not enough free space on this drive. Free some space, then download.

  3. Watch the progress bar. Click Pause if you need to stop for a while.

    The line shows Downloading with how much has arrived. After the files arrive, it says it is checking the files and getting OpenFrame AI ready. Pause keeps what has arrived. The button then reads Resume download and carries on from where it stopped. If the download fails, the card says why and the button reads Try again.

  4. If you already have the model files, click Import a model file… and pick one in the Windows window.

    The window is titled Import an OpenFrame AI model file and takes .gguf files. The file is copied and checked, never moved. A message says OpenFrame AI is ready when the set is complete, or says to import the other model file to finish.

  5. When the download finishes, look at the panel header.

    The status label reads AI Ready and the conversation, Scope and Ask box replace the download card.

What you get

The panel says AI Ready and you can ask questions.

Watch out for

  • The files are checked after they arrive. A damaged or missing file shows Download OpenFrame AI again with a message about it. Click Download again to replace it.
  • On a copy of OpenFrame that cannot download, the card says so and offers Import a model file… only.
  • The download is the only time OpenFrame uses the internet for OpenFrame AI.
