OpenFrame AI

Open, close and resize OpenFrame AI

Open the panel next to any page of your project, make it the width you like and close it again.

Beginner5 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • A project is open.
  • OpenFrame AI is downloaded and the panel says AI Ready. See Download OpenFrame AI to get it.

Steps

  1. Click the Assistant button in the top bar, or press Ctrl+J.

The Assistant button is the sparkle icon near the right end of the top bar, next to the Settings gear. The panel opens on the right. In the picture the Home page has narrowed to fit beside it. The header reads OpenFrame AI with AI Ready on the right. Under it are Scope, the Save conversation for review button and New, then a short line explaining what to ask, and at the bottom the Ask or command box with Send.

  2. Open a brand new project and open the panel there.

The panel works the same in a project with nothing in it yet, here Empty Short. OpenFrame AI can only answer from what the project holds, so a new project gives short answers until you add ideas, a story or a screenplay.

  3. Move to another page, for example Screenplay.

The panel stays docked on the right while you work on the page. The screenplay narrows instead of being covered. The Scope you chose stays in place while you move between pages.

  4. To change the width, drag the thin edge on the left side of the panel. Double-click the edge to put it back to the normal width.

You can also click the edge to focus it and press the Left Arrow key to make the panel wider or the Right Arrow key to make it narrower. The width is remembered. On a small window a wide panel is brought back within bounds so the page is never squeezed away.

  5. Click the x button (Close OpenFrame AI), or press Ctrl+J again.

The panel closes and the page uses the full width again. The Assistant button in the top bar looks pressed while the panel is open.

What you get

The panel opens beside your page at the width you chose, and closes when you are done.

Watch out for

  • If you open the panel before any project is open, it says Open a project to ask about it. OpenFrame AI answers from the project that is open.
  • If the panel does not say AI Ready, it shows the download card or a message instead. See Download OpenFrame AI and the troubleshooting list.
