Drag files in from Windows File Explorer

Add files quickly by dropping them onto the Files page.

Beginner2 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • A project is open on the Files page and a File Explorer window is visible.

Steps

  1. Select the folder you want in the folder panel, or All files for the top level.

Dropped files go into the folder that is selected. The line at the top right says: Drag files here from Explorer to add them.

  2. Drag one or more files from File Explorer onto the page and let go.

While you drag, a panel covers the page and says Drop to add to this project, or to the folder name, with A copy is stored inside the project. Dropped files are always copied in. To link a file instead, use Add File and Link to file….

What you get

The dropped files appear in the list as Stored in project.

Watch out for

  • Dropping copies the file. The original in File Explorer stays where it was.
