FilesAdd a file by copying it into the project
Keep a copy of a document inside the project so it travels with it.
Before you start
- A project is open. The file is on this computer.
Steps
Click Add File at the top right.
The page lists your files. If a folder is selected in the panel, new files are added to that folder. Select All files or Top level to add to the top level.
Choose Copy into project….
The Add File menu has two choices: Copy into project… and Link to file…. Copy into project… stores a copy inside the project folder. The original is left untouched.
In the Windows window that opens, pick one or more files and confirm.
The files join the list with Stored in project in the WHERE column. A message says Added followed by the file name, or Added and the number of files, with Undo. The file keeps its original name as its display name.
What you get
The files are in your project, stored inside the project folder.
Watch out for
- The copy does not follow later changes to the original. If you edit the original, add it again or use Export Copy… on the copy to compare.
- Click Undo in the message straight away if you added the wrong file. Later you can delete it from the row menu.
