StoryEdit, give an image to, archive or delete a character
Change a character's details or remove the character from the list.
Before you start
- The project has a character.
Steps
Click Edit at the top right of the character and change the Name, Role / title or Short description, then click Save.
A note reads: Renaming doesn't change screenplay text; use Find & Replace in the screenplay for that. Cancel closes the sheet.
Click More and look at the menu.
It lists Add image…, Remove image, Archive and Delete….
Choose Delete…, read the sheet and click Delete Character.
The sheet asks Delete the character? and says the character moves to Recently Deleted. You can restore it or use Undo. Cancel closes it.
If the character appears in scenes, read the sheet Kiran is in use.
It says the character appears in 6 screenplay scenes and that archiving removes the character from this list without breaking those links. It also says screenplay text is never changed, and that a deleted character goes to Recently Deleted. The buttons are Cancel, Delete Anyway and Archive Instead.
Choose Archive Instead, or Archive from the More menu.
The character leaves the list and the count drops. A message reads Archived and then the name, with Undo.
Tick Show archived characters at the foot of the list to see archived ones again.
Archived characters appear with the word Archived in the list and under their name.
What you get
The character is updated, archived or deleted, with a way back.
Watch out for
- Prefer Archive Instead for a character who is already in scenes. Deleting is recoverable from Recently Deleted.
- Renaming a character does not change screenplay text. Use Find and Replace in the screenplay.
