Delete a card, beat or act safely

Remove material with Undo, and decide what happens to the contents of an act you delete.

Intermediate5 stepsMac

Before you start

  • The Beat Board has something to delete.

Steps

  1. Control-click a beat or card and choose Delete.

Delete is the last item in the menu. The inspector has a Delete button too.

  2. Read the message at the bottom: Deleted Beat “She opens the bag”.

Click Undo to bring it back, or Dismiss to close the message.

  3. To delete an act, click Options in its header and choose Delete.

An empty act goes at once. An act that holds cards opens a sheet first.

  4. Read the sheet Delete “Act One: The last bus”?

It counts what is inside, for example 1 Sequence and 4 cards and 2 beats, and says your creative material is not deleted unless you choose that. Move its contents to another Act (Recommended) deletes only the empty act, and a menu named Move contents to picks the other act. Delete the Act and everything inside it sends the cards to Recently Deleted, where they can be restored.

  5. Choose an option and click Move Contents and Delete Act, or click Cancel to keep the act.

    Cancel changes nothing.

What you get

The item is gone with a way back: Undo for a moment, and Recently Deleted for what you chose to delete with an act.

Watch out for

  • The recommended choice moves your cards to another act first, so nothing leaves the story.
