Story

Park a card and bring it back

Set cards aside so they stay out of the story and out of Build Screenplay, without deleting them.

Beginner4 stepsMac

Before you start

  • The Beat Board has a card you are not sure about.

Steps

  1. Control-click a card and choose Send to Parking Lot. For a beat the choice is the same; in the selection bar it is Park.

The Parking Lot is a column at the end of the board. It says: Drag cards and beats here to keep them out of the story without deleting them. You can drag a card straight into it, too.

  2. Control-click a parked card.

The menu is like a normal card's, but it offers Restore to Story where the normal menu offers Send to Parking Lot.

  3. Open a parked card and click Restore to Story at the foot of the inspector.

The parked card opens like any scene card. Restore to Story returns it to the story.

  4. Click Parking Lot in the toolbar to hide the lot.

The lot disappears from the board and the acts have more room. Click Parking Lot again to bring it back. Parking Lot cards are never used when you build a screenplay.

What you get

Cards you are unsure about wait in the Parking Lot until you want them.

Watch out for

  • The Outline lists the Parking Lot at the end, with its count, for example Parking Lot (1).
