Rename an act and add a note to it

Change an act's title, write a note about it and move it along the board.

Beginner4 stepsMac

Before you start

  • The Beat Board has an act.

Steps

  1. Click Options in the act's header, or Control-click the header.

The act menu lists Rename, Edit note…, Move Left, Move Right and Delete.

  2. Choose Rename, type the new title in the Act title box and press Return.

The title is edited in the act header.

  3. Choose Edit note…, write in the Note box and click Save Note.

The sheet is titled Note for and then the act's name. Cancel closes it without saving. The note stays with the act and is for you, not for the screenplay.

  4. Choose Move Left or Move Right to change the act's place on the board.

Acts keep their cards when they move. In the Outline the same menu says Move Up and Move Down.

What you get

The act has the title and note you chose, in the order you want.

Watch out for

  • Delete on an act with cards in it opens a sheet that asks what to do with them. See the delete workflow.
