Screenplay

Open the Scene Hub and edit scene details

See what exists around a scene and write its synopsis, story day, time note and scene note.

Intermediate5 stepsMac

Before you start

  • A screenplay with a scene is open.

Steps

  1. Click in a scene, then choose Screenplay Tools, then Scene Hub.

The inspector opens on the Scene tab. Its heading names the scene, for example Scene 10: EXT. KESARGANJ JUNCTION - FOOTBRIDGE - DAWN, and asks: What exists around this scene? A list shows Screenplay, Breakdown, Shots, Schedule, Comments and Beat Board for the scene. Click Close to hide the inspector.

  2. Or Control-click a scene in the scene list and choose Scene Hub.

The scene row menu has two choices, Scene Hub and Add Comment. It opens the hub of that scene without moving your cursor.

  3. Read the hub of scene 3.

Below the list are Beat Board card (No Beat Board card is linked to this scene when there is none), Characters in this scene (names such as KIRAN and DEVI), and Scene details with Synopsis, Story day, Time note and Scene note. A scene note is not printed and is left out of exports by default.

  4. Type in Synopsis, Story day (for example Day 1), Time note or Scene note.

Revert and Save Scene Details appear when you change a field. Revert drops your changes. Save Scene Details keeps them.

  5. In a new project, open the Scene Hub of the first scene.

It reads Scene 1: Untitled scene. Each line says Nothing created yet, Characters in this scene reads Nobody speaks in this scene yet, and the Scene details fields are empty.

What you get

The scene details are saved and the Scene Hub shows what exists around the scene.

Watch out for

  • Click Save Scene Details before you close the inspector or choose another scene, or the edits are lost.
