ScreenplayCut, copy, paste and fix spelling with the page menu
Use the right-click menu of the script page for editing, lookups and spelling.
Before you start
- A screenplay with text is open.
Steps
Double-click a word or drag across several words to select them.
The selected words are highlighted. Everything in the menu below acts on the selection.
Control-click the selection (or right-click with a mouse).
The menu shows Look Up, Translate and Search With Google for the selected text, then Cut, Copy, Paste, Paste and Match Style, Share…, Font, Spelling and Grammar, Substitutions, Transformations, Speech and Layout Orientation. These are the standard macOS text commands.
Control-click in the page with nothing selected.
A shorter menu opens with Cut, Copy, Paste, Paste and Match Style, Font, Spelling and Grammar, Substitutions, Speech and Layout Orientation. Use Paste and Match Style to paste text without bringing its formatting.
Control-click a word the spelling check underlines, for example teh.
Suggestions come first. Choose one to replace the word. Ignore Spelling skips the word, and Learn Spelling adds it to your dictionary. Spelling uses the dictionaries of macOS.
What you get
You edited text and fixed a spelling mistake from the page menu.
Watch out for
- The commands come from macOS, so what Translate, Speech or Share offer depends on your Mac.
