Production Plan

Read the Overview and follow what needs attention

Use the Overview cards and the NEEDS ATTENTION list to decide what to plan next.

Beginner5 stepsMac

Before you start

  • A screenplay draft is the Production Source.

Steps

  1. Open Production, then Overview. Read the Script status card.

It shows the name of the draft, here Example-Short (imported), and a line such as LOST PROPERTY · Not locked · used as Production Source. The button at the top right now reads Change Production Source.

  2. Read the other cards.

Breakdown progress shows how many scenes are marked complete out of all scenes, for example 0 / 10, and how many have confirmed elements. Unresolved locations counts locations still at Idea or Shortlisted. Unresolved cast counts characters without an actor. Catalog counts reusable production items.

  3. Look under NEEDS ATTENTION. Click Open next to a line such as Needs casting: KIRAN, DEVI.

Each line names something still to do and has an Open button that takes you to the right section. Needs casting opens Cast & Crew.

  4. After you assign actors, return to Overview.

Unresolved cast now reads 0 characters without an actor (of 3), and NEEDS ATTENTION says Nothing needs attention right now. The cards update as you plan.

  5. To use a different draft, click Change Production Source.

Use it when the screenplay has a new draft you want to plan from. Your screenplay is not changed by choosing a source.

Watch out for

  • The picture shows a project with two scenes broken down. Your numbers will match your own project.
