Production PlanCreate a moodboard
Start a named board for the look and feel of the film, optionally tied to one scene.
Before you start
- Production is open.
Steps
Choose Moodboards in the section pop-up.
The page asks: What should this film feel like? With no boards it says No moodboards yet. Collect images, notes and links that show how the film should look and feel. Name a board anything, for example Overall Look, Cinematography or Costume.
Click New Moodboard.
A sheet opens with Board name and Suggestions. A line says Use any name you like, with buttons Overall Look, Cinematography, Production Design, Costume, Lighting, Character and Location. When the project has no screenplay scenes, there is no scene choice.
If you click Create Moodboard with the name empty, read the message.
The sheet says Give the board a name. Type a name or click a suggestion.
When the project has scenes, look for Reference for a scene.
The pop-up starts on No particular scene and is marked Optional. Leave it unless the board belongs to one scene.
Click the pop-up to tie the board to a scene.
It lists every scene of the Production Source by number and heading, for example Scene 1: INT. KESARGANJ JUNCTION - LOST PROPERTY OFFICE - NIGHT.
Click a suggestion, for example Overall Look, then click Create Moodboard.
The suggestion fills Board name. You can still edit the name before you create the board.
Look at the new board.
The board opens on a canvas that says Drop images, notes and references here. The toolbar has Add Image, Add Note and Add Link. A line says: Drag to move. Shift-click to select several. Arrow keys nudge. Paste images or links with Command V. A message says Created moodboard “Overall Look”, with Undo.
What you get
A new, empty board is open and ready for images, notes and links.
Watch out for
- No board is made until you click Create Moodboard. Closing the sheet creates nothing.
- Click Undo in the message right after you create it if the board was a mistake.
