Idea Vault

Search the vault

Find an item by a word from its title, text, caption, file name or tag.

Beginner4 stepsMac

Before you start

  • The vault has items.

Steps

  1. Click the magnifier at the top right of the window.

A search box opens with the hint Search ideas, tags, filename. A button beside it opens more toolbar items that no longer fit.

  2. Type a word, for example bus.

The page says 1 result for “bus” and shows only the matching card. A label under the card, here Matched in text, tells you why it matched. The counts in the list at the left follow the search.

  3. Try a word that is not in any item, such as zebra crossing.

The page says 0 results for “zebra crossing” and No results for “zebra crossing”. It adds: Search looks at titles, note text, captions, filenames and tags. Check the spelling or try a different word.

  4. Click the grey x at the right of the box to clear the search.

The vault shows all items again.

What you get

You find the item you wanted, or you know nothing matches.

Watch out for

  • Search in the vault looks only inside the vault you have selected. Switch Which Idea Vault to look in the other one.
