Idea Vault

Keep ideas in the Global Idea Vault

Collect ideas that belong to no film yet, and copy them into a project later.

Beginner4 stepsMac

Before you start

  • A project is open, or you are in the Global Idea Vault.

Steps

  1. In the Idea Vault, click Global in Which Idea Vault.

The badge changes to Global. The page says Ideas across your whole filmmaking life. Copy them into a film when they are ready. An empty one says Drop any film idea, reference or file here. Add Note and Record Note are offered. The lists, folders, collections and tags at the left show the Global Idea Vault's own.

  2. Add ideas with Add, Record Note or Quick Capture as in the project vault.

The picture shows the Global Idea Vault with one idea, a copy of a project note. Quick Capture here says it is saving to the Global Idea Vault.

  3. Click an idea to open it.

The inspector has Pin, Move and Copy to Project. Copy to Project sends a copy into the open project. The fields and the Research flag work as in a project.

  4. Control-click a card.

The menu has Open, Rename, Move…, Pin, Add to Collection…, Tag…, Copy to Project, Send to Story, Research flag and Delete. It is the project menu with Copy to Project in place of Copy to Global Vault.

What you get

Your ideas are kept outside any one film, ready to copy in.

Watch out for

  • Add, Record Note and Quick Capture save to the vault chosen in Which Idea Vault. Check it first.
