Idea VaultDelete an idea and bring it back
Remove an item, find it in Recently Deleted, and restore it or delete it for good.
Before you start
- The vault has an item.
Steps
Open an item and click Delete in the inspector, or select it and click Delete in the selection bar, or choose Delete from the card menu.
The item leaves the vault at once. A notice says Deleted and the item's name, then: You can restore from Recently Deleted. Undo in the notice brings it straight back.
Click Recently Deleted in the toolbar.
When nothing has been deleted the page says Nothing deleted and Items you delete from the Idea Vault will appear here. A note says: Deleted items stay here for 30 days, then they are removed for good. Restore them before then, or delete them sooner. Back to Vault returns to the vault.
Find your item in the list.
Each row shows the item's name, its kind and which vault, for example Note · Idea Vault, when it was deleted, and how many days are left before it is removed. Restore and Delete Permanently are at the right.
Click Restore, then click Back to Vault.
A notice says Restored and the item's name. The item is back in the vault.
To remove an item for good, click Delete Permanently instead and read the question.
It asks Delete permanently? and says the item and any file stored with it will be removed from this Mac and that this can't be undone. Click Delete Permanently to remove it, or Keep in Recently Deleted to change your mind. Keep in Recently Deleted is the safe, default choice.
What you get
The item is restored to the vault, or removed from your Mac for good.
Watch out for
- Delete Permanently cannot be undone, and it removes any file stored with the item.
- Items you leave in Recently Deleted are removed for good after 30 days.
