SettingsTurn spell checking on or off and choose languages
Control the spelling check in the screenplay and pick the main and second language for this project.
Before you start
- A project is open and you are on the Writing tab.
Steps
Look at the SPELLING card. The Check spelling as I write box is ticked when spell checking is on.
Main language is the language of most of your script, for example English (United States). Second language, with the hint For scripts that mix two languages, is None until you pick one. The lists show the dictionaries installed on this computer.
Open Main language and choose a language. If your script mixes two languages, open Second language and choose the other one.
A language that is not installed on this computer is marked not installed on this computer in the list. A warning also says that words in that language are not underlined. If no dictionaries are installed at all, the page says to add a language in Windows Settings and come back. Second language never offers the language you chose as the main one.
Click Check spelling as I write to turn it off. Click it again to turn it on.
A message says Turned spell checking off, with Undo. Turning it on says Turned spell checking on. Every change here is one step you can undo with the Undo in the message or with Ctrl+Z.
What you get
The screenplay underlines misspelled words in the languages you chose, or nothing when checking is off.
Watch out for
- Words in a writing system with no installed dictionary, for example Telugu or Hindi on most computers, are never underlined. Character names in the script are never underlined.
- Spell checking uses the dictionaries of Windows. OpenFrame does not download any.
