Add a theme from a file

Pick a theme file from disk, check it and save it to My Themes.

Intermediate2 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • The Appearance tab is open and you have a theme .json file on this computer.

Steps

  1. Under My Themes, click Import Theme File… and pick the .json file in the Windows window that opens.

Only .json files are offered. The window is the standard Windows file window.

  2. The Import theme dialog opens and checks the file at once. Read the result, then click Save to My Themes or Save and Apply.

The dialog says Checked before anything is saved. It shows the same previews and readability result as for pasted text, including the corrected and rejected cases described in Add a theme by pasting its text. A file is checked again when you save, so a file changed after the check is refused.

What you get

The theme is in My Themes.

Watch out for

  • A file larger than 10 KB is not a theme file and is refused.
