Screenplay

Find your way around the editor

Know what each part of the Screenplay page does before you start writing.

Beginner3 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • A project with a screenplay is open.

Steps

  1. Click Screenplay in the left rail and look at the page.

The toolbar runs across the top: the screenplay picker, the draft picker, Draft, Saved and 16 pages, then Scenes, zoom, Find, Notes, Comments (2), Drafts, Compare, Export and Lock. The scene list is on the left and the page is in the middle. The bar at the bottom of the page shows the element of the current line.

  2. Scroll down the page, or click a scene in the list.

The page scrolls and the scene list keeps the current scene highlighted. This is the same screen further down the script. Click a scene row to jump straight to it.

  3. Look for Saved next to the draft name.

Every change is saved on this computer as you type, so there is no Save button to press. Hover over the save state to read that.

What you get

You can name the parts of the Screenplay page and know where to find them.
