Production Plan: overview and catalogReplace an item in some scenes
Swap one catalog item for another in chosen scenes without deleting the old item or touching the screenplay.
Before you start
- The item is used in at least one scene and another item of the same category exists.
Steps
Open the item and click Archive in the drawer footer.
Replace in Scenes… is offered inside the archive question, so you start there.
In the Archive “Soldering iron”? dialog, read the text, then click Replace in Scenes… in the INSTEAD box.
The dialog says the item is still used in a number of scenes and that archiving keeps those associations readable but stops offering the item for new selections. The INSTEAD box says you can replace it in selected scenes with another catalog item without deleting it.
In the Replace dialog, choose the Replacement item and tick the scenes under Apply to scenes.
The dialog says: This changes production associations only. The screenplay is not changed and the item is not deleted. Replacement lists the other items of the same category with their status, for example Marine radio receiver (Required). Every scene that uses the item starts ticked. If there is no other item in that category, a blue note says to add one in the Catalog first.
Click Replace in 1 Scene. The button shows the number of ticked scenes.
It is greyed out when no scene is ticked. Cancel closes the dialog. A message says the item was replaced in that many scenes and that the old item is kept in the catalog, with an Undo link.
What you get
The chosen scenes now use the replacement item. The old item is still in the Catalog.
Watch out for
- The screenplay text is not changed. Only the production links change.
- You can undo with the Undo link in the message at the bottom.
