Move a file into a folder

Put a file in the folder where it belongs.

Beginner3 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • At least one file and one folder exist.

Steps

  1. Click the ... button on the file's row.

The row menu lists Open, Details, Rename (F2), then MOVE TO with Top level and each folder, then Reveal in File Manager, Export Copy… and Delete (Del). Delete is in red at the bottom.

  2. Under MOVE TO, click the folder, or Top level to take it out of a folder.

The file moves at once and a message says Moved followed by the file name and the folder, with Undo. You can also drag a row onto a folder in the panel.

  3. You can also right-click the row to open the same menu.

The right-click menu has the same items as the ... button.

What you get

The file is in the folder you chose. Its folder name shows under its name when you look at All files.

Watch out for

  • Moving a file only changes where OpenFrame lists it. A linked file is not moved on disk.
