Delete a project

Remove a project from this computer after you confirm it by typing its name.

Intermediate4 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • You are sure you no longer need the project. Think about Archive first.

Steps

  1. Click the ... button on the card, then click Delete Project….

The red item at the bottom of the menu starts the deletion. Nothing is deleted until you confirm in the next dialog.

  2. Read the dialog Delete “Empty Short”?

It warns that this is the most destructive action in OpenFrame and that the whole project will be removed from this computer. The project folder (ideas, story, screenplay, production plans and stored files) is moved to the Windows Recycle Bin. Files linked from other folders are not touched. Delete Project is greyed out until you type the name. Archive Instead keeps everything and only hides the project from your recent list.

  3. Type the project name exactly in the box labelled Type the project name to confirm. Then click Delete Project.

Once the name matches, Delete Project turns on. Cancel closes the dialog and keeps the project.

  4. You can also delete from the Archived projects list: use the row menu and choose Delete Project….

The same warning shows, without the Archive Instead button, because the project is already archived.

What you get

The project is removed from your list and its folder is moved to the Windows Recycle Bin.

Watch out for

  • This is the most destructive action in OpenFrame. If you are not sure, click Archive Instead.
  • The folder is moved to the Windows Recycle Bin, where Windows keeps it until the bin is emptied.
