Application Home

See where OpenFrame keeps your files

Read the folders OpenFrame uses, open them in Windows, and reach the move and back up buttons.

Intermediate5 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • The Settings dialog is open.

Steps

  1. Open Settings and click the Storage tab.

Four sections each show a folder path and what it holds.

  2. Read YOUR OPENFRAME LIBRARY. Use Open Folder to see it in Windows.

It says: Back up this folder. It holds library.json, which remembers who you are on this computer and where your work is, so a reinstall finds everything again. By default it also holds your projects and the Global Idea Vault. Move Library… moves it, and Locate Existing Library… points OpenFrame at a library you already have.

  3. Read FOLDER FOR NEW PROJECTS. Click Change Folder… to pick another.

New projects are created here unless you choose another folder when you create one. Changing it does not move the projects you already have.

  4. Read GLOBAL IDEA VAULT. Use Back Up…, Export Package…, Restore…, Move… or Locate Existing Vault….

The vault holds your ideas, research and their pictures, shared by every project. It has its own backup, package and move buttons, separate from the library.

  5. Read APP DATA, then click Done.

App data holds settings, the recent project list, OpenFrame AI's files and logs. It is not your work: uninstalling may remove it, and your library stays.

What you get

You know where your work is stored and which folder to back up.

Watch out for

  • Back up the library folder. OpenFrame stores everything on this computer and has no cloud copy.
