Project window and navigationCheck that your work is saved and go back to a saved version
Read the save state, save a checkpoint with Save now, and return to the last saved version if you need it.
Before you start
- A project is open.
Steps
Look at the status bar at the bottom left. It shows Saved and the project name. Click it.
OpenFrame saves as you work. The status bar always shows the state. The right side of the bar reads Offline · Local Project Saved.
Read the PROJECT STATUS panel that opens above the bar.
It shows Saved and the time, and says: Offline: your project is stored locally. Below is the path of the project. The buttons are Save now, Open recovery, Open project location and Activity.
Click Save now, or press Ctrl+S.
A message says: Saved. Everything is stored on this computer. This marks a confirmed saved version.
To go back to the last saved version, click Open recovery.
The Open recovery dialog says: Go back to the last version you confirmed with Save. If you have never used Save now, it says there is no confirmed saved version yet and that your work saves continuously, so use Save (Ctrl+S) to create one. Open Saved Version is greyed out. Keep Current Work closes the dialog.
If a saved version exists, compare it, then choose Open Saved Version or Keep Current Work.
The dialog shows the LAST SAVED VERSION time and the CURRENT STATE time, with how many changes are newer. Opening the saved version replaces what is on screen. Nothing is lost: the current state is kept as a safety copy in the project's backups folder.
The panel looks the same in any project. Open project location shows the project in Windows, and Activity opens the Activity page.
This copy is from the Empty Short project.
What you get
You know your work is saved and how to return to a saved version.
Watch out for
- Open Saved Version replaces what is on screen. Read the times first. The current state is kept as a safety copy.
