Settings

Move a project to another folder

Move the folder of one project and keep working in it from the new place.

Advanced3 stepsMac

Before you start

  • The project is open and Project Settings is on its Storage tab.

Steps

  1. On Storage, scroll to the This project card and start the move there.

The Project settings tab also has a Move or back up… link beside the folder path of the project.

  2. Read the Move This Project dialog and click Move Project.

It names the new folder. It explains that the project closes for a moment, is copied and checked, then opens from the new place, and only then is the old folder removed. If anything goes wrong, it stays where it is now. Linked files outside the project are not moved. Cancel closes the dialog and changes nothing.

  3. When the green message appears, click Close.

The message says The project is now at followed by the new path. The project is open again from there.

What you get

The project lives in the new folder and is open from it.

Watch out for

  • Files linked from outside the project stay where they are.
  • The old folder is removed only after the copy is checked. If the move fails, your project stays in its old place.
