Production PlanArchive a catalog item and show archived items
Stop offering an item for new use without losing its history, and bring archived items back into view.
Before you start
- The Catalog has an item you no longer need.
Steps
Select the item, then click Archive at the bottom of the inspector. You can also Control-click the item and choose Archive….
Archive keeps everything. Delete is the other choice and has its own workflow.
Read the sheet Archive “Devi”?
If the item is still used, the sheet says so, for example: This item is still used in 1 scene (1). Archiving keeps those associations readable but the item will no longer be offered for new selections. The Instead box says you can replace it in selected scenes with another catalog item without deleting it, and offers Replace in Scenes….
Click Archive Item to archive, or Cancel to stop.
A message at the bottom confirms, for example Archived “Folding umbrella”, with Undo.
Tick Show archived above the table.
Archived items now appear in the list with an Archived label in their row. Untick the box to hide them again.
What you get
The item is archived. It stays readable in the scenes that use it and returns to the list with Show archived.
Watch out for
- Use Replace in Scenes… when the item should be swapped for another one in the scenes that use it.
- If an archived item seems to vanish, tick Show archived.
