Production Plan

Add panels to a storyboard

Add panels by importing an image, drawing a sketch or adding an empty panel.

Beginner5 stepsMac

Before you start

  • A storyboard exists, or a scene is chosen on the Storyboards page.

Steps

  1. Open the Scene or storyboard pop-up at the top of the list and choose a scene.

The page shows the scene and 0 panels. It says Create panels for this scene. A panel needs only a visual area and a short description. Link panels to shots whenever you like. Neither is required. It offers Import Image, Draw / Sketch and Empty Panel.

  2. To change scene, open the pop-up again.

The menu lists Current draft: Example-Short (imported) and every scene below it by number and heading.

  3. Click Add Panel at the top right.

The menu holds Import Image, Draw / Sketch and Empty Panel. You can also paste an image with Command V to add it as a panel.

  4. Choose Draw / Sketch. Pick Pen or Eraser and an ink colour, draw in the Sketch area, and click Save Panel.

The sheet offers Black ink, Red ink and Blue ink, with Undo and Clear. A note says: Basic sketching only. For polished art, import an image made elsewhere. Cancel closes the sheet.

  5. Choose Empty Panel two more times.

Panels are numbered 1, 2 and 3, each with Add a short description under it. The header says 3 panels. A message says, for example, Added panel 3. Drag panels to change the order. Panel numbers and linked shot numbers follow the order automatically.

What you get

The storyboard has its panels in order.

Watch out for

  • The sketch tool is for quick drawings only. Import an image for finished art.
