PackagesBring a response back into your project
Preview what an imported package changes, then apply only what you choose.
Before you start
- You sent a review package and received a .ofresponse file.
Steps
Choose File > Import Exchange Package….
The window asks: What exactly will this imported package change? It accepts Review, response, Beat Board, Breakdown, Shot List, Schedule or Call Sheet review packages. The package is validated first, and nothing changes until you choose what to import.
Click Choose Package… and pick the file.
Cancel closes the window.
Read the summary at the top.
Package type (for example Response package), Source project, Source version and Compatibility (Valid) are shown, and a line tells you who exported the file. A green message counts what arrived, here 1 new comment received.
Look at the Changes by object table.
Each row shows what kind of change it is, the Count, a State such as Safe mapping and an Apply tick box. Conflicts are never applied unless you select them. Ambiguous and unmatched notes go to the Review Queue and nothing is discarded.
Click Show Comments to open a group.
The group lists each item, for example Scene 1 with its heading. Hide Comments closes it again.
If you want a safety copy first, tick Create Backup Before Import.
This makes a backup of your project before anything is imported.
Choose how to import with the buttons at the bottom.
Import Selected imports the rows you ticked. Accept All Safe imports every row marked safe. Comments Only imports just the comments. Keep as Review Record keeps the package as a separate record without importing it. View Package opens the package to read. Cancel closes the window and changes nothing.
Read the result.
It says Applied. Imported: 1 comment was applied. The row now shows its State as None. The comments are attached to the matching scenes. Undo Import takes the whole import back, and Close finishes.
What you get
The comments are in your screenplay and the import is recorded in the history.
Watch out for
- Undo Import works as long as the imported items have not been changed afterwards.
- Comments that cannot be matched safely go to the Review Queue instead of being lost.
