Call Sheets

Create a call sheet from a shooting day

Make a call sheet for one shooting day and open it for editing.

Beginner5 stepsMac

Before you start

  • The schedule has at least one shooting day.

Steps

  1. Click Call Sheets in the sidebar, then click Create Call Sheet.

A project with no call sheets says: Create a call sheet from a shooting day. Scenes, cast and locations are filled in from the schedule. You add call times and practical notes.

  2. In the Create Call Sheet sheet, look at Source shooting day and Template.

Source shooting day is the day the sheet is built from, for example Shoot Day 1 · Mon 14 Jun 2027. Template starts as None. Under Will be filled in automatically the sheet lists what you get for free: the title, date, day number and day times, the scene schedule with start times, meals and travel rows, talent with cast ID numbers, locations with address, parking and access, and extras, department notes, the advance schedule and crew when the project has them. A last line says you add call times, weather and day-specific notes, and that anything nobody has entered reads Needs input.

  3. Click the Source shooting day menu and choose the day you want.

The menu lists the shooting days of your schedule, for example Shoot Day 2 · Tue 15 Jun 2027 and Shoot Day 3 · Wed 16 Jun 2027.

  4. Click the Template menu if you want to start from a template.

The menu offers None and your call sheet templates, for example Indie Call Sheet. Leave it on None to build the sheet from the schedule alone.

  5. Click Create Call Sheet.

The sheet closes and the draft opens in the editor. A message at the bottom says Created a call sheet from the shooting day and offers Undo. Cancel in the previous step closes the sheet and creates nothing.

What you get

A draft call sheet for that shooting day is open, with its scenes, cast and locations filled in from the schedule.

Watch out for

  • Click Undo in the message right after creating if you picked the wrong day.
  • Create the sheet after the schedule is in good shape. You can always bring it up to date later with Refresh from schedule.
